Senior Club Captain: Ethan Taylor

I am Ethan Taylor and currently train in the National Youth squad. I am currently a second year A Level student - studying Maths, PE and Psychology. My passion is swimming and I am honoured to have the opportunity to be Wrexham Swim Club Captain in 2019. My aim is to be a role model for the younger swimmers within the Club and encourage everyone to have goals, dreams and strive to achieve them.

“If training is easy then winning will be hard”.

“If training is hard then winning should be easy”.

Senior Club Captain: Charlotte Thorpe

My name is Charlotte Thorpe, I am 16 years old and I am one of the Club Captains. This is my second year working as Club Captain and I really enjoy it as I get to mix with swimmers in all the different squads.

I started coming to Swimming Club when I was about 8 years old. I am in National Youth squad now and I study BTEC Sport in Coleg Cambria. My brother Tom, and sister Olivia are also members of the club.

I work as a swimming assistant on a Saturday morning and I am a qualified lifeguard so I work in waterworld as a lifeguard when I can aswell.

Junior Club Captain: Jacob Canlas

My name is Jacob Canlas - 14 years of age.  I started swimming lessons when I was five.  I  joined Wrexham swimming club at the age of eight, primarily to relieve the symptoms of my asthma, as well as to keep my lungs stronger and to keep me physically active.

I am currently in the Age Group squad and trains 7 times a week. Swimming is my favourite sport, I also like to draw and listen to music.  I love my club because it helps me build my confidence, encouraged me to improve my skills and most especially treat me as part of a big family.

As a junior team captain, I always put the team first, I step up when the team needs me and make sure that I always have a positive relationship with my coaches and teammates.

To the younger swimmers my best advise is  listen carefully to our coaches, learn from your mistakes during training and galas and most of all enjoy every second of your swimming.

Junior Club Captain: Olivia Sanger

I am 14 years old and in the Age Group squad. I have enjoyed swimming from a young age and did the waves at waterworld.  After completing these, I went into rookie life guard completing bronze, silver and gold.  I joined Wrexham swimming club in October 2015.

What I like about swimming club is obviously the swimming but also that you meet new people and make new friends.  I hope to have the opportunity to compete in Swansea and to improve all of my strokes to attain pb's.  My advice to younger swimmers is 'believe in yourself and have a positive attitude towards your swimming and this will give you a positive outcome'
